The programme teaches the philosophy of mindfulness whilst also teaching the children about their feelings and emotions. This helps the children to focus their attention, become more aware of themselves and their surroundings, and learn the skills of acceptance and letting go, whilst developing the art of being non-judgemental.
School Mindfulness Programme
The assistant psychologist facilitates a mindfulness intervention for the whole school. The sessions last 40 minutes per week and have a specific focus on the regulation of our thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Sessions run in blocks of 5 weeks with small groups.
Parent mindfulness sessions are also delivered throughout the year to offer parents the opportunity to learn about the practice of mindfulness. These sessions aim to inform parents about mindfulness so that they can share mindful experiences with their children at home. Teacher training is also provided so that mindfulness can be embedded into the classrooms.
